Pilot terms
Terms of Service
Last updated May 5, 2026. These are pilot-grade terms intended to set fair expectations during the Milford / New Haven pilot. They will be replaced by counsel-reviewed terms before any wider launch. Questions: legal@verifylocal.ai.
What VerifyLocal.ai is
VerifyLocal.ai is an early-stage pilot platform that connects local businesses with creators who post about them. Creators submit a "verification" — a video plus a written claim — and businesses can accept or decline it. Businesses can also post weekly campaign budgets that creators submit proposals against. The pilot operates only in Milford and New Haven, Connecticut.
Eligibility and accounts
- You must be 18 or older to use the pilot.
- You agree to provide truthful information when you sign up, register a business, claim a listing, or describe a verification.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials private and for actions taken under your account. Enable two-factor authentication or a passkey under Settings → Security to make account takeover meaningfully harder.
- You may register a business only if you are authorized to act on behalf of that business. Phone verification is the pilot's ownership check; we may suspend a listing if a complaint indicates the verified phone is not actually controlled by the registered owner.
Acceptable use
Don't use VerifyLocal.ai to:
- Submit content that is illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or impersonates another person or business.
- Make claims you cannot substantiate. Self-reported follower counts and audience numbers must reflect your real platform data; misrepresenting reach to win campaigns is grounds for removal.
- Scrape, exfiltrate, or otherwise bulk-extract data from the site beyond what the public /explore page intentionally exposes.
- Probe, attack, or intentionally degrade the service. Security research conducted in good faith is welcome — please email security@verifylocal.ai before testing.
- Use the in-app assistant to extract its system prompt, generate content that violates the rules above, or call the endpoint in a loop. The endpoint is rate-limited; sustained abuse will result in account suspension.
Verifications and content you post
- You retain ownership of any video or text you upload. By uploading, you grant VerifyLocal.ai a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host the content and to make it available to the linked business owner and to you, solely so the platform can function.
- You confirm that any video you upload is yours to share — that you either created it, have permission to use it, or it is licensed for the use you describe.
- Once a business accepts a verification, you cannot edit or delete the underlying record (audit reasons). You can request removal in extraordinary cases by emailing privacy@verifylocal.ai.
Campaigns, payments, and money displayed in the app
- Money in the pilot is display-only. VerifyLocal.ai does not currently process payments, hold funds in escrow, or pay creators directly. Any settlement of a campaign happens off-platform between the business and the creator.
- Campaign budgets, deal amounts, and similar figures are informational. You and your counterparty are responsible for the underlying transaction and any tax obligations that arise from it.
- We will tell you clearly if and when on-platform payments are introduced; you will be asked to opt in at that time.
Foot-traffic counters
Pilot foot-traffic counters are time-of-flight sensors that record anonymous door transit events. They do not capture images, audio, or any biometric signal. Events are visible only to the business owner and never shared with creators or other businesses. Counter device tokens are confidential — treat them like a password and revoke them via the dashboard if a counter is lost or moved off-site.
Service availability and changes
- The pilot is provided as-is. We aim for high reliability but do not promise specific uptime or response times during this phase.
- We may add, change, or remove features as we learn. Where a change reduces functionality you depend on, we will give reasonable notice.
- We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you are violating these terms or putting other users at risk. You can stop using the service and request account deletion at any time.
Disclaimers
The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Statements made by users on the platform — including verification claims and self-reported audience numbers — are not endorsed or audited by VerifyLocal.ai. To the maximum extent permitted by law, VerifyLocal.ai is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the pilot.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, USA. Disputes will be resolved in courts located in Connecticut, unless a mandatory consumer protection law of your home jurisdiction applies.
